Echoes of the Past at the Mt. Kalugong Eco-Park

If I were to choose key phrases to describe my high school years at Benguet State University-Secondary Laboratory School (BSU-SLS), they would include “solid work”, “4-1”, “Pomology”, and “Mt. Kalugong”. It has been more than 15 years since the last time I set foot on Mt. Kalugong. Which is a shame, really, considering how it is on my doorstep (heck, the side of the mountain greets me each morning I wake up!) and how it is now more accessible to everyone as the Mt. Kalugong Eco-Park. Continue reading “Echoes of the Past at the Mt. Kalugong Eco-Park”

What I Loved About CNBLUE "Can’t Stop" Live Tour 2014 in Manila

I figured we all deserve a time to be spastic or “let loose the inner fangirl in us”, and that is exactly what this post is all about. Clearly, I am still on a high after catching Yonghwa, Jonghyun, Jungshin and Minhyuk in the Manila leg of their CAN’T STOP 2014 live tour at the Smart Araneta Coliseum, heavy rains and flooding and all. Before I completely close on that chapter (well, not completely, since I have a series of posts coming up that are indirectly related to them), let me just post a few more of the snaps I managed to take during the concert, and also share the things that I loved about it. (You can read my mini-con report right here.) Continue reading “What I Loved About CNBLUE "Can’t Stop" Live Tour 2014 in Manila”

Typhoon Mario "Can't Stop" CNBLUE Live In Manila

Outside, neighboring towns and cities are submerged in a flood. Typhoon Mario is making his presence felt in a not-at-all-subtle manner. All the way in Hawaii, Arashi Blast is happening (which is verrrry fitting). Inside the SMART Araneta Coliseum, the show went on. Which is a good thing, because I braved the foul weather to travel all the way from Baguio to catch this concert that I have been looking forward to in months. Thank you, CNBLUE and the organizers for not letting Typhoon Mario stop “CAN’T STOP” from happening!

'Twas a Vibrant Day When Baguio Turned 105

It was in September 1, 1909 when Baguio City was granted its charter. To this day, it is considered one of the most important dates – if not THE most important date – in the history of Baguio City. And every year, it is celebrated with a program and a civic parade on the date itself, followed by a series of activities lasting throughout the month.

This year is no different. Continue reading “'Twas a Vibrant Day When Baguio Turned 105”

Fitness Mornings at Burnham Park

Mention Baguio City’s “Burnham Park” and the activities that will immediately come to mind include taking a ride on one of the boats on the Lake, having a picnic, riding bikes at the Biking Area, having a go at the Skating Rink, letting the kids loose at the Children’s playground, walk around the Rose Garden or the Orchidarium, catch a game or an outdoor show at the Melvin Jones Grandstand, and, lately, watching the fountains light up in the evening. It comes even more alive when the annual Panagbenga (Flower Festival) comes around (see more tourist accounts here, here, and especially good ones here and here), since it’s the site of the Market Encounter and other trade fairs. And, of course, the fluvial parades on the Lake, also during the Panagbenga.

In the early mornings, however, you get to see a different side of Burnham Park. The fit side. Continue reading “Fitness Mornings at Burnham Park”
